Chris just took these pics from the hill in our backyard. They're not the clearest things ever, but it's hard with the low light level and a point and shoot camera!

ok to clarify the RSF/Del Mar areas as the news literally sucks, Im in communication with several friends throughout those areas....below is a bunch of info but as for Del Mar is sounds like its further east on Heights nearer Torrey Pines HS
just got off phone with friend, he watched the fire on the ridge all night, NE of his place in Olivenhein, sounds like the Bridges area....he said it flared up good at one point last night then around 11pm it went into a solid fire line as the winds died down and got smaller, he could see crews fighting it and said they got a brake in the fire and cut it in half and then not too much later they got it to small hot spots...this morning he cant see any fire just smoke everywhere
friend in del mar just drove around and cant find a fire anywhere, I told him where they were filming and he lives off of Del Mar Heights west of the 5 and said there is nothing but hes on the lookout. He was at a friends house last night in RSF and they went to the town in the center of RSF and watched the fire, at that point it was east of the town but flared up big he said so they left.
this seems like an accurate but old map from last night from what Ive been hearing:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=112674941830232417080.00043d199392855ccccc3&ll=33.000602,-117.111511&spn=0.845366,1.672668&z=10&om=1
the corrections I would make to it to be accurate as of this morning, would be at the top arc it up and to the left a bit to bring it a bit closer to the bridges, then at the lower left corner of that Im guessing it has moved west across via de la valle since the news showed a home that burned right on that road and said it had crossed the street, and bring it down and towards the left towards Fairbanks and San Dieguito Rd, across that road and as far down as Del Mar Heights; Ive heard that it did cross San Dieguito and entered Fairbanks and the news showed the fire just off Del Mar Heights to the north a bit, from the background during the video it looked like it was where Heights nears Carmel Valley Rd close to Torrey Pines High School...its a lot of brush over there....I just dont know how wide the fire is as it goes down into that area....is it just a finger dipping down or is everything to the east of that line also on fire???? I dont know. or it could be just small hot spots, but those areas have been confirmed on fire.
6131 6129 6125 Camino Selva have burnt in RSF, CBS is live in RSF at a 4th and 5th burnt house they just dont have an address to id them. here is a map of 6129 Camino Selva, this confirms that it crossed Via De La Valle a while ago heading SW:
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formtype=address&addtohistory=&address=6129%20Camino%20Selva&city=Rancho%20Santa%20Fe&state=CA&zipcode=92067&country=US&geodiff=1
and here is what a friend said who lives in the Bridges:
Got another update from my dad:
He talked to a friend of his that was able to get into the Bridges, still nothing burned at all in the neighborhood, and the golf course sprinklers are keeping everything soaked. Our house is in the SE corner across the street from that Nursery that was burning, and that area has calmed down, so said it's a 99.9% chance now our house will be fine.
Right now, the blaze is still going just outside the NE corner of the property, and they are fighting like hell to keep it from spreading into that creek bed and all at wildlife preserve towards Olivenhein canyon. The good news right now is that the winds are calm and the fire fighters are starting to get it contained over there.
Only word I heard about Cielo is that some of the lower hills had some damage, but it wasn't complete destruction through there.

Well, maybe they came in from Nellis AFB and are staging at Miramar, which is just a crow mile or two from the fires.
Perhaps they can get into areas and map hot spots that under smoke cover like they military was doing in the Harris Fire area, last night/this morning, identifying the hot spots via infrared equipment.
Or, perhaps it was a training exercise.

I live in Vista county and the fire is all around my area like 15 miles away. I was up in Fallbrook earlier and the whole area has been shut down cause the rice fire up there is spreading still. This shit is crazy, the air quality is super terrible and can barely breath. The sky is filled with smoke everywhere. Pretty much just been stayin close to home and hoping that it doesn't spread to vista. My sympathy goes out to all the people that have been evacuated or lost their homes. Those who have been evacuated, I hope you guys haven't lost your houses because I can imagine how terrible it would be to lose your home.

I'm actually at work, currently, in Natl City. But the homestead is just west of the 805, and south of University. So, you'll know before I do. The stuff we see in our area is coming from the Harris Fire. That is the fire I have been watching.
If there was a fire destined for us Mid-City urbanites, it would have been the Cedar Fire of '03. FWIW, I was here and remember the Laguna Fire of 1970. These two fires were similar.
I'm not trying to be cavalier, but I would be more concerned with a locally set fire than what is happening "in the country" right now.

Go to "City Council" on the right side of the screen, then click on your District Rep.
I went to Councilmember Brian Maienschein, for District 5, which is where RB is, and I found a HUGE list about 11 pages long with addresses. Mine is not on there, but I'm not going to believe it until I'm standing in my living room.
I tried to go and see what I could find today, but the National Guard was posted at the intersection of West Bernardo and RB Road. They were only letting in people who needed medication, but there was at least a 3 hour wait, and you had to have proof of residence with you(Plus I didn't have any meds to get). Unfortunately all my stuff shows my old address :owned:.
The hill on the south side of the Lake Murray was black and still smoldering when I was there as well. I got a random text saying that they RE-EVACUATED my neighborhood about an hour ago. That is unconfirmed.
As of now, I'm still at the same place as last night. My fiance's parents can't go home either. They live off Espola road and that is still blocked. We were able to sneak in to that area on foot earlier today and confirmed their house is still standing. But the fire was still smoldering on the hill just a half mile down the road.

I just got back home, I had to take a break, here are the updates as I know them...sorry if these are repeats. Olivenhein, Encinitas evac has been lifted at 7 (although I was able to drive around all throughout there all day today) and people are allowed home. Del Mar has also been lifted and people are allowed to go home. Huge flames can not be found anywhere from the Witch or Fallbrook fire at the time but officials are still concerned to make sure it doesnt start back up over night. Wind has moved back the other direction heading in the Julian area and that fire is moving back the way it initially came. The witch fire is being contained around the hodges area and so far is under control. So as long as the winds dont pick up or turn around again they should be able to control it through the night and have full containment in a day or two. I can speak to the Encinitas/Olivenhein area as the skies being MUCH better, air is breathable now (not perfect but MUCH MUCH better) and clear skies overhead. Same goes for the Cbad and San Marcos/Vista areas.
Thoughts go out to those that didnt make it unscathed, best wishes to those people and to those who are still in harms way.
some arial footage (http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/?rn=49750&cl=4658855&ch=68276&src=news)
At the end, it shows a cul-de-sac with some homes burned and some not. Amazing how some are standing, while others are nothing mroe than ashes.

Fire Dept is saying the Witch fire is 1, yes 1% contained. Not under control by any meaning of the word.
Cedar was not contained fully until 10 days after ignition, and wasn't fully extinguished until 40 days after ignition.
Cedar started October 25th.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cedar_Fire
Full containment was achieved on November 3 and the fire completely controlled on December 5.[1]
This current fire is very similar.

All lined up. It looks like they were all owned by the same person and he was putting them there for safe keeping. Glad to see they were not left to fight for themselves. A little quick detailer and it could have been a car show. These were about .5 miles from the fire on Miguel Mountain down here in CV. It has gotten to within a mile of me but turned more north when they started doing the BACK FIRE thing to keep it out of the residences. Anyway, best of luck to all. I don't see flames, I think I'm safe, hahahaha.... but my Aunt in Santa Clarita (15 miles from me) is packed, ready to evacuate... my other Aunt and Uncle in San Diego are already evacuated.... knowing my Uncle, he probably took the Bullitt first, lol. The fucking smoke makes me cough like crazy. :(

I saw these cars in an Albertsons parking lot. Just the first 20 or so car pics.
http://s169.photobucket.com/albums/u227/Gibs07GTcpe/?start=all
All lined up. Hopefully none of you have lost everything.
Gib
that green shelby looks familiar...I think Ive seen it as some local shows
Ive seen so many cars being evacuated, there were a string of exotics and classics/vintage leaving RSF yesterday. There were several exotics sitting in the Albertsons parking lot in La Costa earlier.

Camp Pendleton officials have announced that only key and essential personnel,
to include I Marine Expeditionary Force and Marine Corps Base personnel,
should report aboard the base. All other military members and DOD employees
will not be required to report to work due to safety concerns. However, they
must contact their organizations and provide an update to their status.

I think that we are not understanding each other. If I could not make it on time to get home from leave then of course I would call in and tell someone. I am not new to the game. All that I wanted to know was if San Diego Airport was closed or not and if I5 was closed in the pulgas exit area. THATS IT. Not what to do if I can't make it in time to check back in. Christ.

At this point they are probably only concerned about having 100% accountability of their Marines. So I am sure they won't mind hearing from you. I am actually suprised they haven't tried to contact you, but I guess they just assumed you are on leave.

Just got off the phone with a buddy and he said that they started "controlled" fires on Camp Pen near Los Flores to help contain the rice fire. Well they lost control and evacuated my camp completely. My buddy has not gone to work the past two days and isn't going tomorrow either. That sucks I missed three free days off. Oh yeah I am retarded for not realizing that Lindbergh was SD airport. Thanks for the info.

I'm still not allowed to go home. My area is still blocked off because SDG&E is still going home to home checking the gas and power lines.
This map shows my area on the lower left side of the page. I haven't seen my house on the list of destroyed, so that's a good sign. But I won't be happy till I see my house with my own eyes.

Long story short we bailed from south escondido due to air quality late monday afternoon and got stuck going north on 15 unable to join mom in her rv down on 32nd st base. 78 w to 5 south looked horrendous so we pulled off at the el camino real mall just as they were evacuating carlsbad and some other coastal areas (unsure as it was word of mouth in a parking lot). We ended up being mallrats til mall closed and spent night in our volvo. Met a guy named Wayne that had an original shelby kr? parked a few spots down from us. Next day took off for the 15 as it was supposedly re-opened checked my place in esco and my mom's in rb and both were fine and proceeded to the rv. spent the night in rv and got back home yesterday afternoon. Jeez freaky seeing the burnt area around lake hodges and on the hillside on the east side of the mall here in escondido - really really close.
Glad to hear ben and matt and everyone else is ok.

We officially made it home this afternoon. My fiance got here around 3pm. I didn't get here til I could get out of work at 10. I've never been happier to come home, and I've never looked forward to cleaning my house more than tonight.
I drove about a block north of my place on West Bernardo and I could see several scorched homes from the street. Very sad to see the devastation, even at night. I will take a look at things tomorrow to see how bad it really is, and how close it really got to my place.

Ben and Matt. Glad to hear the good news fellas.
A good friend on mine's parents live right off Duenda, looks like they lucked out big time. I don't think they are home yet, but have heard the news.
A bunch of houses right around them burned to the ground. I do think that his stepbrothers home got burnt, but not to the ground.

i took a short drive north on West Bernardo this morning and you can see several homes that were destroyed. Only thing left standing were the chimneys. Then saw the scorched hillsides near Lake Hodges. Very humbling experience.
But I did manage to meet some of the firefighters that saved my area at work today. They came in to buy supplies and I talked to them for awhile. They told me about how they decided where and when to fight the approaching fire. And I realized that had they not decided to make their stand at the Church at the Intersection of West Bernardo and Duenda, I would be homeless right now.
I thanked each and every one of them, and even bought their chief a new sleeping bag. Now I have an invite to have spaghetti dinner with them at the station. They were all very happy to see the appreciation for their hard work, and for risking their own lives to save our homes. Meeting them was one of the coolest things I've ever experienced.
I think those guys are under paid and under appreciated, and I've permanently added them to my christmas list.

You're right DSG, Firefighters save our asses!
In the cedar fire they stopped the fire literally a few feet from my doorstep, in country bush and trees no less. Thankfully this time around it didn't get that close to my home, but I'm no less grateful to the firefighters :flag:
