Gears?

I have a 65 coupe mustang. It originally had an inline 6 in it.... the previous owner put a 289 in it but left the rear end stock. At highway speeds shes runs higher rpms than i would like. so im not sure what gears i should run. any recommendations would be appreciated.

Do you know if it's the original rear end, or a modern one?

If it's ooooold, check it against this guide (http://www.hipomustang.com/default2.asp?page=18) to help us figure if it's the 8" or 9".

If it is the original rear, you are pretty much outta luck. Haven't seen and new parts for those ever. Only 8in and 9in.

You need to upgrade to an 8" anyway
