This is a stock crank pulley replacement correct? Whats the perk?

That's the wrong part anyhow.

http://www.atiracing.com/products/dampers/charts/damserp.htm says that's for a 96-04 Cobra. You should be going for a 6 grooved 6.78" pn 918035. It's a good part if you're going to be SFI 18.1 compliant, but there are other SFI 18.1 approved ones going for half the price, and the stock is like 60 bucks.

Be careful with Professional Products, google their name and see if it's something you'd like to do. Lots of issues with their Chinese made products. Be careful with e-Bay too. That guy is selling it for nearly $30 over retail of $421.80, whereas we could do it for $10 under

So what is the perk in "upgrading" your dampner? Where would you score a stock one other than dealership?

Just to clear it up- Crankshaft pulley and Harmonic Dampner are interchangable names correct?

Yeah, crank pulleys and harmonic dampers are the same thing.

For the most part, the perk of upgrading/changing your crank pulley/harmonic damper is to change the ratio of which the other accessories spin, slowing down some, spinning up some. The 2003-04 Cobra guys often change their upper and lower pulleys around too.

Also, if you start getting real serious into racing, depending on which sanctioning board or safety requirements they want, you'll have to meet certain regulations, a big one being SFI (http://www.sfifoundation.com).
