ok I as I just posted here it is the SEMA cruise/meet, I have been contemplating doing a Surfside Mustangs event based around SEMA for a while now and it seems as though the time is now, so lets just start by figuring out who is going to SEMA this year, then we can get the details rolling, I am thinking a cruise out and a meet at least one of the days, lets figure it out fast so everyone can get a room, I know of a lot of people going from all over the states from other forums so we can turn this into a huge stang event it would be real cool, so lets just start with if its going to be worth it since not everyone can go to SEMA......
if you are planning on going and are interested in this start the sound off, (SEMA is Nov. 1-4)......

no but you have to be in the industry or have an in with someone that does, this is required when you register and then when you get there and pick up your tickets, then you have to show ID and business card of the company that you are with.

Not really. Anybody can go, but you have to be associated with some sort of business that would be attending. This isn't a consumer show, but if you know someone that works for a shop and they can get you in, then you're set. I had a design studio and could make my own business cards. So that was enough for them. I was considered a "consultant".
It's only $15 for a full week pass. Getting a hotel room is a bit tougher. My recommendation is find a place on Paradise because The Strip is too far. There is a La Quinta Inn that I stayed in last year and got a room last minute. I was only staying one day though.
If you go to the show, leave your car in the hotel parking. You'll never find parking at the convention center. Take a cab, but when you decide to leave, give yourself plenty of time. The wait for taxis can be an hour or more, depending on when you leave the building.
The show is HUGE. It takes up every square inch of the convention center, which is one of the biggest in the nation. You cannot see the whole thing in a day. Hell, you may not even be able to see the whole show in a week.
The downside to SEMA is that it's becoming a lot more about accessories and fluff. My company used to feed off of SEMA, but now we're only sending 1 or 2 people from each magazine. Instead, we're concentrating our efforts on P.R.I in December. PRI is more about performance than SEMA, but it's a little tougher to get into than the SEMA show.

they also run buses from the hotels to convention center this is much faster and free....also parking is not bad if you know where to park, there is a lot directly behind the convention center that is real easy and you walk right in to the back section (where they loaded the stang on the SEMA overhaulin episode) there is also another one just across the street from that, but I found that the easiest and FREE one is behind the Hilton across the street, where their entrance to their sports book is, its always empty for some reason and about 2 seconds from the convention center you dont even have to cross a street, just walk around the parking structure..... they also sometimes do stuff off the premises, either at another convention center or at the vegas speedway and a lot of after hours parties, way sick, the best way to go is to sign up as a buyer then you can make your own hookup conections, I know that from past experience a lot of retailers and manufactuers would offer discounts ontop of the wholesale price.....there are better badges to have but then you really need to have an "IN" or you can sign up as a SEMA member and get special deals and into certain areas, basically the more important person you are or know the better.....here is a shuttle schedule for the show to the various hotels....
Shuttle Service
Complimentary shuttle bus service is available between the Las Vegas Convention Center and official hotels. See below for schedules, routes and pickup locations. Buses depart at 15-minute intervals (approximately).

same here, well a friend did when we first started going now have my own, but its legit just use it to get tickets, but if you are really legit and important then you can get more access, Manufactuers get into areas and things at SEMA that the normal person cant, similar with becoming a SEMA member, so is anyone going?????

Mike, you might want to put together some fake biz cards. They will probably ask you for one when you pick up your badge.

they do ask although it does not have to have your name on it, just has to have the company name match the one on your registration form.

I probably won't be going even if I am still living here. Don't want to miss any track time especially open track day on Friday...

My manager has gone there for the last 2 years. I'd like to go, but when he goes it really is for business and isn't a fun trip.
