Hey guys, here is all the official info on this year's STOA regional on-track event. 3 days...HOURS of track time.

http://www.socalsvtoa.com/img/SVTOA_OnTrack_2005.jpg Check out this video to see what an SVTOA On Track Performance Driving Clinic is all about!! (http://www.socalsvtoa.com/files/SVTOA%20ontrack.wmv)

Welcome to the 2005 SVTOA Western Region Howling at Buttonwillow!!
Sponsored by Maximum Motorsports, Griggs Racing, Wild Pony Motorsports, Brembo, Adams Polishes, Luk Clutches, Magnaflow and many many more!!

Registration is now open to all Ford and Ford family vehicles and their drivers!

Get ready for 3 days of non-stop action while the SVTOA Western Region invades Buttonwillow, California for another of our On Track Performance Driving Clinics! Complete with nationally sanctioned driving instructors, loads of vendors showing off their products including the SVT Trailer coming in straight from SEMA complete with a Ford GT available for charity rides, as well as several other SVT vehicles which we are hoping will include the NEW 2007 Ford SVT Shelby GT-500 as seen at some of our other SVTOA On Track events across the country!! We will hold a meet and greet at the Willow Ranch Restaurant in the town of Buttonwillow on Friday evening as well as have a catered BBQ dinner at the Willow Inn & Suites on Saturday night!

We are expecting this event to sell out early considering the media coverage we received in magazines such as Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords and the SVT Enthusiast, as well as multitudes of emails I’ve received from members asking when registration will be open.

New for this year, Ford Racing and SVTOA are bringing in Dr. Jacques Dallaire from Human Performance International – (mindshaper.com) for a special 2 hour seminar ONLY available to this years participants and guests! Dr. Jacques will help you to sharpen your mental skills, improve your concentration and keep your cool when the heat is on at the track! He has trained several top drivers such as Patrick Carpentier, Michigan 500 Winner and driver of the #32 Player’s/Forsythe Racing machine on the C.A.R.T. Champ Car racing circuit; Ron Fellows, Rolex 24 at Daytona and Two-Time 24hrs of Le Mans GTS Winner and multiple winner and driver of the GM Goodwrench Chevrolet Corvette fielded by the Pratt and Miller team in the American Le Mans Series; Helio Castroneves, Two-Time Indy 500 Winner and driver of the IRL Indy Car series #3 Team Penske machine; and Ward Burton, Daytona 500 Winner and driver of the #22 Caterpillar Dodge fielded by Bill Davis Racing on the NASCAR Winston Cup circuit.

Friday will be an open test/tune day at the track – no instruction, open to advanced drivers only. Saturday and Sunday will include instruction/class room sessions and LOTS of track time! See the attached flyer for more info!

If you are with a SVTOA chapter or Ford club, it’s time to start making plans for chapter cruises to the event. Please post information on your websites, linking them to www.svtoa.com for online registration. I am also looking for volunteers to help with registration, tech inspection, raffle ticket sales, gate security and helmet check-out. All volunteers will be compensated with raffle tickets and we will make sure you do not miss any of your run sessions due to your volunteer duties.

"Effective January 1st, 2005, all Convertibles participating in SVTOA On Track events must run with an approved roll bar.
Minimum spec: 4 point mounting, 1.750 x .120 steel tubes. No Exceptions."

Jon, it's a shame but a lot of Tracks/Events are doing this.

SVTOA has worked out a deal to get them at a cheaper price and should have it on their main page www.svtoa.com

That's a big reason why I got the coupe with the removal top for the Vette vice the vert.

Yeah I see that-now that I'm actually looking around online about roll bars.

I just don't think I can bring myself to deface my car like that.

No, definitely me. I am totally bummed out right now.

I guess I just really like the stock look, you know? I saw one Mustang that actually had the rear seat re-stitched around the bar that looked pretty clean.

I dunno, we'll see. If I can find something that looks real nice I may change my mind.

I guess one look and people will know they aren't looking at your "average" car. LOL

In theory, SEMA is 1-4, and SVTOA is 4-6...you could do both. :spin:

Vicki our Regional director has her business in LA, will hit SEMA, then head to Buttonwillow on Friday.

Seriously, I know...you are not the only one with this problem. It bites. Personally, I would rather drive fast than look at shiny car parts, but thats just me. I know several guys who have to go to SEMA for their work, and will probably not be able to make it to this event.

They've done it this way last couple of years. All we can do at this point is try to lobby for next year being better.

SEMA is over on Thursday. Get on the road on Friday and you can make it no problem... unless money is an issue. Personally, if I had to choose between racing my car around a track or walking the countless rows of SEMA in packed crowds, I'd choose track time every time.

Made my reservations today at Willow Inn and Suites. If you're going and you haven't yet, you might want to. The girl on the phone said they were filling up.
