I'll be in Pomona/Fontana this weekend and will be videotaping and photographing at this here racing thingie...I know a few of us were gonna go just to watch and help out or what not so I would like to know if yall wanna meet up and get there together or anything like that.
I don't have any info for spectators fees or anything like that at all so I'm hoping that we could actually all just show up together...I live there so I know the area pretty well and know there is a Dave and Busters/Hooters/Yardhouse (sports bar) at the Ontario Mills mall a few miles away...
so yeah...
any takers, anyone wanna do anything afterwards...

Well unless the weather looks really bad (which is a possibility), I plan on heading up there. No idea on where/when/what to go to, but I figure I'll see the big ass track off I-15 and go that-a-way, heh.

There are no fees to spectate. You will pretty much have free roam within the track.

http://maps.google.com/maps?daddr=9300+Cherry+Ave,+Fontana,+CA+92335+(Cal ifornia+Speedway)+%4034.084793,-117.489249&saddr=3950+waring+rd,+oceanside+ca,+92056&f=li&hl=en&dq=california+speedway&cid=37062500,-95677068,6691421628743284540
cliffnotes:
15 north...10 east...cherry ave exit...turn left (north)...track is 1.5 miles up the road on ur left hand side...
and here is the weather report for that area...

Patrick, will it still be on even if it rains?
Will parking for spectators be outside the track itself?

The event will still be on if it rains, and I will be running.
The parking will be in the track.

As the percentage chance of rain increases, my desire to go out there decreases.
I'm not afraid of rain, but rain + wind + cold + outdoor event + fat guy armed with only a windbreaker, lawn chair, and umbrella does not = fun.
edit: Fuck:
Chance of T-storms

Well, I'm hoping that the rain is to to y'all, but in a sad twist of fate, I am not going to be attending the event now. It seems that God hates me for some reason and decided to put a massive hole the oil pan of my transmission and getting a replacement is turning out to be a futile effort.
You may commence with the "shoulda got a T56" comments now.

Mr. Martinez - I didn't pay. I was just going to spectate, so it's not a huge loss for me. I don't think there's any room left if you haven't already paid, but good luck. We'll do it again at the next one. You can bet on it.

Sorry I didn't see you there. I figured I would be able to find the SCS peep during the AI race as there seemed to be only one good place to watch it.
Anyhow, I got to meet a lot of the AI guys and all of them were pretty cool.
Got to get my car finished and get the competition license.

I was hoping your car was finished...but it's cool...I would of liked to hang out with more of yall...and if the rain hadn't gotten my soaked while standing on the observation tower, I would of said let's all go to like Dave and Busters and get shit faced or something...oh well...seeing Shawn, Matt, and Patrick were good enough...hahahahaha...

I was lucky I ran into the Fowlers when walking into the pit area. They were coming out of one of the covered pit buildings. If I hadn't seen them there, I probably never would have found them since they were pitted down at the BFE end.

All,
Declan, It was nice to see a prospective racer in the class come by and see what we are about.
We encourage those who would like to learn more about the series to come out and particiapte as a spectator or even as a volunteer pit crew.
That is how I got my start.
Declan, or anyone if you have any questions specific to AI let me know or visit us at nasaforums.com.
Regards,
Ernesto
